Swedish prime minister to visit Iran

Tehran, Iran, December 28

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven will visit Iran in February, heading a high-ranking economic delegation, according to Swedish Ambassador to Iran Helena Sångeland.

She said the trip is due to the high level of significance Sweden attaches to economic relations with Iran, Mehr news agency reported December 28.

The ambassador also said that if the Swedish Trade Council in Iran is opened, it will pave the ground for Swedish businesses to enter Iran.

Sångeland also said that the Swedish government would benefit from a swift end to Iran’s banking problems.

Head of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture Mohsen Jalalpour said on June 1 that five memoranda of understanding had been signed between the Chamber and Sweden Trade Council and added that STC is intended to open a bureau in Tehran.

Meanwhile, representatives from 70 Swedish companies gathered in Hotel Sheraton in Stockholm to meet with Iran's 60-member economic delegation and discuss issues of mutual interests including industry, mines, energy, agriculture, information and communication technology, banking, investment and tourism.
